Destination Santa Fe
A Unique Destination: "The City Different"
Travel & Leisure magazine ranks Santa Fe as one of the country's "Top Three" travel destinations. Prepare to be enchanted by our unique blend of Hispanic, Native American, and Anglo cultures, and by some of the country's most distinctive landscapes and architecture. Not-to-be-missed activities in and around Santa Fe include the Plaza, social and business hub of the town for nearly 400 years; the Palace of the Governors, the nation's oldest capitol building; Georgia O'Keeffe Museum; and Bandelier National Monument. Nearby pueblos include Taos, whose five-story buildings have been lived in for more than a thousand years, and San Ildefonso, where Maria Martinez perfected her celebrated "black-on-black" pottery.
Every July, The Institute for Spanish Colonial Arts celebrates the region's Spanish cultural heritage and hosts Spanish Market, while the Museum of International Folk Art organizes the popular International Folk Art Market. In August, the annual Indian Market features the work of more than 1,000 artists.
